Our Recent Trip to AZ part 2

So while we were in Arizona, we also went to Phoenix for the day to catch a Dodgers/Diamondbacks game. Prior to the game we went to Alice Cooper's restaurant, Cooperstown in downtown Phoenix. Steve and I have been there before when we went for Spring Training last spring. It's a great place, with awesome memorabilia and yummy food! The great thing about Cooperstown is it was walking distance from the stadium.

So we had purchased our tickets through a Diamondback's Season Ticket holder, the great perk of that was we were able to get into the stadium 30 minutes prior to the general admissions. We were able to catch both teams warm-up & take batting pratice. So we headed over to the outfield stands to try to catch any balls. Well Steve & Zack tried, I just tried to avoid the flying balls around me.

Our seats were so awesome! They were litterally just one row up from the Dodger's dugout. That is how freaking close we were!

The great thing about Chase Stadium is it's an indoor stadium, and while we were there they did open up the roof... Oooh the opening of the roof!

And the Dodger's won...barely! But it was an awesome game.

Our recent trip to Arizona

Last month we had the opportunity to visit Steve's best friend, Zack & his family in Prescott, AZ. Let me just start by saying Arizona is very beautiful and the people who live there do take pride in keeping their state clean & wonderful. The drive was very long, mostly through the desert and we saw very few towns in between. I could never imagine living in those areas, literally in the middle of nowhere! But as we got closer to Prescott, which is in the mountains, it became more green & farm land. In fact, we drove through a town that was cattle country (too bad Mika was asleep) They were not the black & white (dairy) cows we see on our way to Hemet; they were brown (dinner) cows. It may not sound like much to you, but I thought it was a sight to be seen. Plus as we were driving through the town, they were having an auction and a big BBQ lunch afterwards. I wonder if they were betting on their lunch? j/k But it was beautiful to see the ranches with their green rolling hills.

After we drove through, we encountered the steep mountain drive up to Prescott. I have to say the scariest drive up! Worst than going up Hwy 74 & going up to Big Bear. Luckily we made it up (Zack's dad showed us another (safer) way to head back home) Then we made it into Prescott, yay! There seems to be two parts of that city, the old town & new town. The old town is like a place frozen in time. They have their little mom & pop shops, antique stores, & a town square right in the middle. When we first arrived, they had the whole town square shut down for a corvette car show. At first when we drove up, we thought everyone in town just had corvettes or something. j/k

Big Bear July 4th, 2011

We were fortunate to have been asked to go to Big Bear for the 4th of July weekend. I did not care for the ride up, was getting car sick and nervous. Nervous, because Steve didn't check if we had enough gas to get up, I asked him after we started the trek up the mountain and we had a little less than 1/4 tank. There was a gas station at the mid point of the mountain, but he didn't want to pay $5 for gas. He said I could hike up the mountain for gas, and I said this is why I have AAA. So I just prayed and we made it! Yay!!

We began our trip at the bobsleds. Steve and Mika rode down a cement slide on a plastic cart that had a brake. It was crazy to see how fast those carts go, people did crash and had road burns. We even saw a dad crash into his young son. So I stayed at the bottom of the hill while they journeyed to the top.

We had a great relaxing weekend with very good company. We weren't able to go on the lake, because a majority of rental boats were sold out, but the day we went to the village it did sprinkle while we ate lunch. And the whole weekend, we had a chance of thunderstorms so we didn't want to chance it out in the water. But Big Bear was great and we hope to go up again soon!

We had to leave Big Bear on July 4th, so we didn't stay up there to see the fireworks. The ride back down wasn't as bad as going up. I was hoping to take Mika to see either the Palm Spring or Palm Desert fireworks, but unfortunately I felt sick once we got home so we stayed at home. So she didn't get to see any fireworks other than the ones neighbors were letting off. But she was excited to see the moon, haha. She loves pointing to the moon and going MOOOONNNNN!
